As most thing are moving onto the web these days, it’s no surprise to see new web based services launching everyday that allow users to do things for free online, that before where only available on your desktop with costly applications.

Unfortunately, music composition has been lacking in this respect. We’ve seen very few good online music composing services. A newly launched service, Noteflight, aims to change that.

If your a music student, teacher, or just love music, then Noteflight is for you. Noteflight is a flash based web app that allows you to compose, edit, and then share music.

You can easily create your masterpiece by dragging notes onto the musical staff, or use your keyboard. Edit it, and then your ready to share it, by sending your friends the public url to your song, or by embedding it on your blog/website.

Noteflight is a new kind of tool for musicians, composers and educators: an online music notation editor. With Noteflight, anyone can create, share and publish musical scores using nothing more than a web browser.  This ease of editing, sharing and publishing are what make Noteflight so different from other notation editors: music notation can finally be used on the Web in as natural and flexible a way as text, images or videos.

Although, Noteflight is completely free for now, they do plan on launching a paid version latter. According to some sources, if you sign up now (during the beta), you’ll be able to stay completely free forever. So go sign up now and check it out!
